At Hartwell Riding Stables, we pride ourselves on being able to offer riding lessons to suit every level of rider, from absolute beginner through to advanced riders.

We strongly believe that if we take the time to learn about our riders and their abilities, as well as what they wish to achieve, then we are better placed to give every customer a great experience and value for money. All our lessons are planned to ensure that learning objectives are met, with clear improvements being made for each rider, whether that be technique, confidence or overall knowledge.

We have an excellent range of horses and ponies suitable for all abilities. Most of the horses and ponies we use for lessons have been with us for many years and have helped hundreds of children of all abilities to improve their riding. We will always match each individual rider with the horse or pony that suits their experience, stature and ability the most, and as riders get more confident, they can try out their new skills on different horses. 

In a private lesson you will have one to one tuition with one of our fabulous instructors, meaning they can focus entirely on what you or your child would like to achieve. Private lessons are also great for children wanting to achieve Brownie Badges, Duke of Edinburgh achievements, Riding Levels for BHS Exams, etc. 

Semi-private lessons are a great way for yourself or your child to learn with a friend. We can accommodate 2 or 3 children in a semi-private lesson. We no longer offer group sessions at Hartwell. 

Private or semi-private lessons are the perfect way to get back into riding or to start as a complete beginner. 

We also have plenty of availability during school holidays for either private or semi-private lessons. We offer discounts for block payments of lessons - see our price list for full details.
