My daughter has been riding at Hartwell Riding stable for four years, and almost two years ago Mum also decided to get back in the saddle. My first lesson at Hartwell was amazing, my instructor Kristin was brilliant and confidence boosting, needless to say I along with my daughter continued with our regular riding lessons, not just because we both loved horse riding but because the Hartwell team make you feel very valued as their customers and incredibly welcome and part of their yard. My husband could see how much we were enjoying ourselves and then posed a question “Perhaps we could get our own horse?” I felt elated, then despondent, there was no way we could have a horse, we were a family with three young children, we both worked, having our own horse would be a massive commitment on our time and it wouldn’t be fair to the horse if we couldn’t put that time, work and commitment into having one.........That is until we talked to Ashleigh and Jackie at the stables. Ashleigh proposed a livery package which would allow us to own our own horse and he would be fully looked after by Hartwell riding stables on working livery. This meant that my daughter and I could ride him, take part in shows, hack out, go to the yard and groom and even just hug him. The days we couldn’t get to the Stables we were safe in the knowledge he would be cared for by the Harwell team and exercised by clients of Hartwell within riding lessons. Perfect

My son has been riding at Hartwell for over 3 years and his teachers have all been excellent; a great mixture of encouragement but also challenge where necessary. He is now competing at shows and loving it. All the staff at Hartwell, 2-legged and 4-legged, are part of a friendly and appproachable family.

Hartwell riding stables has been a real find for us. My Daughter has been riding there now for 5 years. As a family we have never been around horses before, so it was remarkable how quickly we fitted in to the culture of Hartwell. I decided to choose our local stables for convenience, but I have not regretted that choice. I was quite nervous that we might find riding a bit of an exclusive club that we would not find comfortable. I was wrong. When I first met Jackie I was surprised at how comfortable she made me feel. There was the right mix of efficiency, friendliness and more importantly to me, her concerns for the safety of the children and the welfare of the horses and ponies. The Management and staff at Hartwell are warm, friendly, polite and caring. The other customers are friendly too. I would truly miss my chats with the other mums and dads, who like me, all seem to jump every fence with their children as they watch them. We welcome the cups of tea and coffee that keep us warm while we watch and wait and I have even been lucky enough to sample Gary’s cooking when he is rehearsing a special Christmas dinner My Daughter loves Hartwell and as unbelievable as it all sounds, I do not have a bad word to say about it. She may not become the next Olympian, but she has learned a lot of positive life lessons whilst being part of the ‘Hartwell family’ which has given her confidence, the chance to love all animals, a good work ethic and a tenacity to never give up. Thank you Hartwell

After nearly 7 years, a lot of very happy times and endless cups of tea and coffee I thought I should write a short note to say thank you. Firstly the riding school – it is exactly what we were looking for after many unsuccessful visits to other riding schools. We soon realised how incredibly well run it is, the teaching is superb and the staff are friendly. Safety is a priority and you can really learn to ride properly as the ponies/horses are not just ‘followers’. The thought and care behind how much you use the horses and your lesson planning means that we have always been able to use the horses that are best suited to the kids and the lesson they are doing. They also have a great time at the activity days and specialist clinics both taking part and/or working – as a parent to know they are engaged, happy and safe through the holidays is a bonus! I must also say that if you’re just watching a lesson the refreshments are most welcome! Next the livery – something we would never have considered if we hadn't found you. It is so well supported and there is always help, advice and care (even through the night) which is very much appreciated. Thanks for welcoming us as part of the ‘Hartwell family’ - for giving the children the opportunity to gain so many memories, friends and even some qualifications and most importantly the fun and experience. Here’s to many more happy years!
